The existing medical exam exemption for immigration candidates seeking from within Canada is being extended until March 31, 2022 by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The public policy was supposed to expire on December 28th, but it went into force in June.
Foreign nationals must provide an immigration medical exam or a unique medical identifying number from a prior exam when applying for permanent residence in the United States. If they have already taken a medical exam and fulfill the following requirements, they will be spared from having to do another one.
They've sought for permanent residency, but haven't taken a new immigration medical exam;
They have undergone a medical examination within the past five years and have been cleared of any risks to public health or safety, or they have reported to health authorities for monitoring.
They have not spent more than six months in the previous year living in a country on the federal government's list of countries requiring an immigration medical exam; and
If the applicant's family members are
also in Canada and match the following conditions, they may be eligible under
this program.
Individuals who are not eligible for
the public policy will be contacted by IRCC to discuss future measures,
according to a press statement from the immigration agency.
According to the IRCC, this
policy streamlines application processing for low-risk, in-Canada candidates
while simultaneously controlling public health hazards.
The measure is also designed to
facilitate the processing of immigration applications. Despite the fact that
IRCC met its objective of admitting 401,000 new immigrants this year, the
agency is presently facing a massive backlog. According to the most recent
statistics, about 1.8 million immigrants are awaiting permanent residency
status.
