What to expect in 2023 in regard to Canadian immigration - Aptech Visa

It is estimated that immigrants now make up 23% of all Canadians, which is higher than the previous record of 13% set 100 years ago. As 2023 approaches, the Canadian government appears unwavering in its dedication to immigration and to embracing newcomers to this nation. Aside from reuniting families and supporting vulnerable populations, Canada hopes that increased immigration will contribute to the social and economic development of the country.

The following provides a general summary of what Canadian immigration would entail in 2023.

Hope that the backlog of IRCC applications keeps shrinking

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's (IRCC) total backlog of applications has consistently shrunk since September 2022. The IRCC's backlog has been reduced by 400,000.

Need Help? Talk to our immigration experts

In addition, IRCC has secured $85 million in extra money to "decrease application inventories" and has hired 2,521 more "front-line operations professionals" between March 2019 and November 2022. It is expected that the IRCC will continue to improve its service standards and application backlog in 2023.

Immigration Levels Plan 2023

The Immigration Levels Plan for 2023 has set a record-high immigration goal for Canada, indicating that IRCC is confident it can handle the backlog while simultaneously welcoming a large number of newcomers.

The objective for immigration in 2023 (465,000) is broken down into the following categories.

  • Express Entry users: 82,880
  • 105,500 participants in Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
  • 28,500 people are parents or grandparents.
  • Children and Partners/Spouses: 78,000

Preview for 4 Important Canadian Immigration Pathways in 2023

Provincial Nominee Program 2023

The PNP is expected to replace Express Entry as Canada's preferred immigration route, we learned around the end of this year. PNPs are essential to helping Canada solve the unique labour market needs that are surfacing all across the nation. Therefore, it is anticipated that in 2023, Canada will accept slightly less than 23,000 more PNP immigrants than Express Entry applicants.

Express Entry in 2023

In order to better support Canada's ambition to address certain labour market shortages and gaps, IRCC is anticipated to launch "targeted" Express Entry drawings in 2023. These draws will target candidates who have certain professional experience, linguistic abilities, and/or educational backgrounds rather than issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs) based on a candidate's (Comprehensive Ranking System) CRS score.

Parents and Grandparents Program in 2023

Canada will still be dedicated to family reunification in 2023. This is seen by how well-liked Canada's Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). According to Canada's most recent Immigration Levels Plan, the PGP will aim to welcome more than 28,000 entrants next year in combination with other immigration paths including the Super Visa.

The precise selection procedure that the IRCC will employ for the PGP in 2023 is not yet known in any official capacity.

International Students in 2023

A change to the IRCC's off-campus employment hours regulations for foreign students studying in Canada was made public in October.

International students who are enrolled in courses in Canada from November 15, 2022, through December 31, 2023, "shall be allowed to work more than 20 hours per week off-campus while classes are in session."

Over half a million international students may be able to work more hours while attending their classes between now and the end of next year thanks to a change that was made to help Canada better deal with labour shortages. Canada currently faces "historic labour shortages and an unemployment rate that is low by historical standards."

How will these developments impact Canada in 2023?

Immigration has a positive impact on Canada's population and labour force, and this trend should continue in 2023.

For instance, the anticipated increase in immigration to Canada via PNPs and specific Express Entry draws should enable Canada to reduce some of the pressure that is currently stifling the country's labour market. The natural cycle of spending that takes place when individuals are employed will help Canada's economy as more capable skilled immigrants arrive, especially those working in high-demand professions.

In addition, the temporary easing of the off-campus work hours restriction could lead to an increase in the number of foreign students coming to Canada in the future as a result of this action, which is anticipated to make Canada an even more alluring destination for foreign students. This change in work hours legislation will eventually result in more foreign students contributing to the strengthening of Canada's economy and labour market should it result in more international students remaining in Canada after graduation (much like the Express Entry and PNP immigrants described above).

Accordingly, there should be many reasons for all Canadians to be more optimistic about a strong labour force and a bright economic future in this nation in 2023 as a result of immigration.

To determine how immigration will specifically affect the nation during the coming year, all Canadians should also keep an eye on the status of the Canadian economy and labour market.

Know all about your Educational Credentials Assessment ECA Report

Depending on the program you're applying for, there are specific documents you must submit when you are applying for Canada Immigration Programs. The majority of federal economic immigration streams, including the Express Entry System, do, however, require the Educational Credential Assessment, or ECA, as a common document.

What is an ECA Report?

An Educational Credential Assessment, or ECA report for Canada Immigration, compares your degree, diploma, or certificate against Canadian educational standards.

Educational Credentials Assessment

A report called an Educational Credential Assessment, or ECA evaluates your degree, diploma, or certificate in relation to educational standards in Canada. To get the most CRS scores possible after entering the pool, you might want to have all of your credentials evaluated.

They can also apply for an ECA if they are travelling with you and are your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner. Even though submitting to Express Entry is optional, if your spouse or partner has an ECA, you could be able to claim more CRS scores for their educational expenses.

                           Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

Only ECAs from specific companies are accepted by IRCC:

  • World Education Services
  • Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies
  • International Credential Assessment Service of Canada
  • International Qualifications Assessment Service
  • International Credential Evaluation Service
  • Medical Council of Canada (the professional body for doctors)
  • Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (the professional body for Pharmacists)

With the exception of doctors and pharmacists, we often advise our clients to use World Education Services (WES) for their ECA because they offer the fastest processing time. In order for the Medical Council of Canada to review your main medical diploma, you must be a doctor. You must obtain your ECA from the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada if you are a pharmacist and need a license to practice. Any group you select must wait until they have the required paperwork from you or your school before they can start the review process. Your official transcripts as well as typically a copy of your diploma or degree are required.

Additionally, the examination procedure itself can take several weeks or months. Making progress on your ECA is typically one of the first phases in your Express Entry Canada immigration program because, if you're applying as a skilled worker, you need one to be qualified to submit to the Express Entry pool.

What are the steps to the ECA report process?

Here is our quick, three-step assessment procedure:

  • Deliver your application.
  • Send your paperwork in.
  • They compile your report, check your credentials, and send it to the people you specify.

Who can apply for ECA?

If you received your education outside of Canada, you must undergo an evaluation in order to qualify as the primary applicant for the Federal Skilled Workers Program (Express Entry) or to accrue points for your education.

If you're moving to Canada with your spouse or common-law partner, you can also receive points for your education.

A Canadian degree, diploma, or certificate does not require examination.

Your report must demonstrate that your foreign credential (degree, diploma, or certificate) is equivalent to a Canadian secondary school (high school) or post-secondary certification in order to receive points.

The credentials that should be evaluated

For your highest degree of schooling, you often only require an assessment.

For instance, you only require an evaluation for a Master's degree if you already hold one. For a Bachelor's degree, you are not required to have one.

What circumstances call for two- or more credential assessments?

It takes an assessment for each credential in order to receive points for having two or more.

A minimum of 1 credential must be for 3 years or more of study in order to receive full points for more than 1.

Points are assigned independently of how you finish your credentials.

How soon should you have your secondary education assessed?

You could have your secondary credential evaluated to see if it is comparable to a Canadian credential if your post-secondary credential is not. You would receive credit for finishing secondary school if you did this.

How do you submit your ECA report?

Your document must:

Be provided for immigration reasons by a group or organization that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has designated released on or after the day the organization or professional body we identified was established.

When you submit your Express Entry profile;

Apply for permanent residency; and

Not be older than 5 years old

Never request that your report be sent to us by the designated organization or the professional body.

Once you receive your report, enter the outcomes and the reference number into your Express Entry profile while keeping your original documents safe.

Using multiple credentials: What to do

If you have more than one credential, you will receive all the points:

Each certificate must have a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), and at least one of them must be for a program lasting three years or more.

There is no effect on points based on how you finish your credentials.

How to list more than one educational qualification in your profile

The following actions:

1. Go to your profile and fill out the Study and Languages form. In the Education History box, start by entering your first credential.

2. Then, use the highest degree, diploma, or certificate as your highest credential.

3. After you click Save and Add, the fields you just filled out will go blank and your credential will show up in the table of Education History below the Save and Add button. For all of your additional academic certificates, repeat steps 1 through 3.

Multiple educational credentials in the same field cannot be submitted.

5 lakh Applications were removed from a backlog in just 4 months

Canadian communities and economists are dependent on immigration to Canada, which also plays a significant role in Canada’s identity. Immigrant, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been making steady improvements to Canada's immigration system by reducing wait times and modernizing services.

The Honourable Sean Fraser, Canada's Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, today emphasized the strides that have been made this year in eliminating the backlogs of applications that have been in the IRCC's inventories for longer periods of time than permitted by its service standards.

A record-breaking year for processing visa applications.

Nearly 500,000 fewer Canada Visa applications have been added to the IRCC's overall inventory since August.

The agency has also progressively raised the threshold for processing. Nearly twice as many applications—4.8 million—had been handled by the end of November by the IRCC than there had been at the same time last year.

Through digitization, hiring and training new staff, and implementing automation technology, the IRCC has streamlined procedures and streamlined applications.

The department is still on schedule to complete 80% of new application processing within service requirements for the majority of programs, and it is working hard to improve processing, which reduces client wait times.

More visitors, students, and workers coming to Canada-thanks to- Canada's temporary residency

This year, Canada is on track to process more Canada study permits than ever before for international students wanting to study in Canada.

As of November 30, IRCC had processed more than 670,000 Canada study permits, up from more than 500,000 at the same time last year.

These efforts have resulted in the majority of new Canada study permits being processed within the required 60 days.

In order to accommodate the increasing number of travellers who want to visit Canada, IRCC continues to cut back on backlogs and process Canada visitor visas more swiftly.

Canada is already processing more Canada visitor visa applications on a monthly basis than it was before the outbreak.

Over 260,000 Canada Visitor Visas were processed alone in November.

Reuniting spouses and families through Canada permanent residence: enhancing service

In 2021, Canada accepted 405,000 more Canadian permanent residents than ever before, exceeding the previous record set in 1913. Canada will likely meet its goal of adding more than 431,000 new permanent residents in Canada after 2022, which will be another record-breaking year.

For the benefit of our clients, IRCC has also been updating its services and boosting assistance for programs for Canada PR. All new spousal sponsorship applications or Canada Spouse Visa applications and new Express Entry applications are now processed within the pre-pandemic service standard of 12 months and 6 months, respectively. A 99% reduction in the pandemic backlog of applications for card renewals at the IRCC means that permanent residents should anticipate fewer wait times when renewing their Canada permanent residence cards.

Addressing the labour shortages with immigration

Canada supports immigration as a tactic to help employers find employees with the necessary skills in important industries, such as health care, skilled trades, manufacturing, transportation, and technology, to manage the social and economic difficulties we will face in the future.

  • Extending work permits to wives and working-age dependents of temporary foreign workers at all skill levels is just one of the policies the Canadian government has put in place to assist them to realize their full labour market potential. It will help alleviate labour shortages by supporting firms in locating the personnel they require by extending the eligibility for work permits to family members travelling to Canada with the primary application.
  • The temporary removal of the 20-hour per week restriction on the amount of time that qualifying post-secondary students may work off campus while classes are in session. This temporary modification recognizes the crucial role that international students may play in meeting the labour demands while also pursuing their academic goals, especially given that there are already over 640,000 of them studying in Canada and are potentially available for additional hours of work.
  • Taking action to give foreign nationals with post-graduation work permits that have expired or will expire between September 20, 2021, and December 31, 2022, the chance to continue working there for an extra 18 months by either renewing their work permits or applying for new ones.
  • Paving the way for the creation of economic routes that refugees and their families might take in addition to the conventional resettlement process in order to find a safe and long-term solution. The Canadian Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) was expanded to include more skilled refugees thanks to additional financing from IRCC, and it is now rolling out a new, more flexible application procedure with reliable partners to make it simpler for suitable candidates to apply.
  • Reducing the 20-month wait time for work permits for asylum seekers in Canada to one month.
  • With the implementation of a new permanent Atlantic Immigration Program, an expanded Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, and a new work permit stream for Quebec-selected skilled workers, we are helping to bring workers to areas of the country that need them most.
  • Exempting physicians who collaborate with public health authorities under a fee-for-service approach from the existing rules. With this move, it will be simpler for physicians who were born abroad to remain in Canada, where they can continue to practice medicine and support the healthcare system.
  • Announcing additional financing of $115 million over five years, beginning in 2022–2023, and $30 million in continued funding in Budget 2022 for the Foreign Credential Recognition Program expansion, with a focus on assisting skilled immigrants' absorption into the labour market in the health sector.
  • The National Occupational Classification 2021 will be implemented for immigration programs run through the Express Entry system. 16 more occupations are now qualified for the Express Entry programs as a result.
  • Modifying the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act by deciding which immigrants to admit based on essential characteristics that support specified economic priorities, like educational qualifications, professional experience, or proficiency in an official language. The spring of 2023 is predicted to see the debut of Express Entry's new category-based selection authorities.

The Canadian government will continue to give monthly updates on its efforts to reduce backlogs, as well as on the measures it is taking to enhance client satisfaction, reunite families, and solve the workforce shortage in the country. We are committed to creating an immigration system that benefits newcomers, visitors, our businesses, and all Canadians, even while they are aware that there is still more work to be done.

What guidelines apply to Canada PR background checks?

There are numerous background checks conducted for the Canadian PR procedure. Canada Immigration authorities thoroughly go through an applicant’s profile keeping below mentioned parameters in mind:

Type of background investigation.

ECA

ECA is the first step to Canada PR Eligibility when you begin your Canada Immigration journey. Education equivalency check via an education body like WES - World Education Services, As a result, they will ask you for information relating to your graduation and post-graduation (if you have that degree, then) so that it may be verified. Currently, the issue is that anyone can fabricate data and offer it, but during the entire process, documents must stay inside the university's boundaries. Documents should be signed by the university and sent to the address provided by WES for verification.

Work Experience assessment through Documentation

Verification of the "Professional Career Certificate" comes next. Your former employer may be contacted for the purpose of confirming your certificate, and they will inquire about your relevant experience. When applying for this type of process, people typically never give any incorrect experience information. However, they take into account every conceivable scenario during the Canada PR process for security reasons.

Aptech Visa is the best Visa Consultants in Delhi who will help you with the Canada Immigration documentation process with ease.

Medical Health Certificate

As part of the expedited entrance application, they also ask you questions such as, "Do you have any medical issues in the past are you currently suffering from them and taking medicine to treat them?" or a query such as "Applicant doesn't have any serious illness that affects other nationals of the country." So, the government can determine what kind of medical issue you have based on the answers to these questions. Depending on it, they will decide whether to admit you or not to their nation.

Want to book an appointment with the penal doctors for Canada immigration then contact the experts at Aptech Visa Immigration Consultants in Delhi to help you with all the arrangements.

Police Clarification Certificate

The next step is police verification, which requires you to obtain a NOC from your neighbourhood police station, certifying that you don't have any criminal history. Your persona is not "Criminal" in any way.

Proof of Financial Support

You must also present the certificate from your financial background check. Any bank where you have an account will offer you this certificate. They will guarantee that you owe nothing to the bank or any other organization on that bank's letterhead.

I'll state as a conclusion to this response that they will look into a person's background from all angles. They should be confident in your character and personal attributes because you will soon become a part of their country.

Top Tips for Best IELTS General Training Test Preparation

Clearly comprehend the test's structure.

To achieve the score that you need to apply for Canada permanent residency, it is essential that you familiarize yourself with the format of the test. You need to make sure you know exactly what you are expected to do and how each part of the test is structured, timed, and scored.

Even if you already have a high level of English, if you are unfamiliar with the test's format, you run the risk of having trouble finishing tasks on time, misinterpreting what they ask of you, or, worst of all, becoming anxious when the test starts and you are given tasks you weren't expecting to do.

So, first and foremost, give the test some thought. To acquire a good understanding of the test format and what to anticipate in each portion, you can download sample test questions from this page.

Choose to work on your weaknesses.

It is simple to practice doing what you are already good at when studying for the IELTS, but it is more difficult to concentrate on what you are still learning how to do.

Spend the majority of your study time honing your language abilities, exam-taking techniques, and test sections that you lack confidence in. For instance, if you have already completed a number of practice listening tests and are confident in your listening abilities, start focusing your attention on the areas that require improvement because those will also be evaluated.

Work on your deficiencies initially by identifying them. To assist you in preparing and identifying the areas you need to improve or concentrate on, you might choose to take the IELTS Progress Check.
