What the chance of web designer to migrate Australia under visa 190/489?

Web Designer (232414) is currently in demand on Australia’s Short Term Skilled Occupational List (STSOL) 2018. Thus, your chances are quite bright to immigrate to Australia as web designer.
However, Australia follows a point based immigration system and only having your occupation in demand won’t land you Australia PR. You need to work on Australia immigration points as well. To be able to apply for Australian Permanent Residency, you require at least 65 points on Australia point assessment grid for age, educational qualification, work experience, relevant skills, language ability and other factors.
Hence, minimum pass points give you the ticket to apply for Australia PR. The chances of receiving Australia PR is solely dependent upon the immigration point score. The higher are your Australia immigration points, the better are your chances of ITA.
As your occupation is listed on STSOL 2018, you are eligible to apply only in Australia Skilled Nominated Visa 190 and Australia Skilled Regional Provisional Visa Subclass 489. The nomination from Australia state sponsor visa gives additional 5 points whereas nomination/sponsorship from Australia skilled regional subclass 489 gives 10 additional points.
As per the latest invitation round results, the applicants are invited with 70 points by the Australian government.
Also, every application is processed on an individual basis. There are many factors that constitute overall PR chances. The factors are:
· Backlog of PR applications
· Total number of available places in sub-categories
· Submission of complete document kit
· Any other query raised by the immigration officials
Henceforth, web-designer is non-pro rata occupation and you must try to score 70 points and above for increased Australia PR chances.

Is 60 points sufficient to get Australia 190 Visa?

A point based immigration system is followed by the immigration department to migrate the potential applicants. As your eligibility is solely based on the immigration points, I would say, the Australia pass point is more important.
To be able to apply for Australia PR, an applicant must score at least 65 points on the point assessment grid. The points are calculated for age, educational qualification, work experience, skills, language ability and other factors.
Calculate immigration score using Australia Point Calculator
From 1st July, 2018 onwards the minimum pass points to apply for Australia PR is 65 and not 60 points.
However, the language requirement is also a key factor that constitutes the immigration point score. The highest immigration points for language proficiency is 20 points that you get after scoring IELTS 8 bands or PTE 79 or more in each module of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. And you receive 10 additional points if you score IELTS 7 bands or PTE 65 or more in each module of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Hence, scoring good language skill points will surely add your immigration score that will ultimately boost your Australia PR chances.

How Australia sub-class visa 189 differs from visa 190?

Australia has a very clean model of immigration with just 3 sub-classes of visa under umbrella of General Skilled Migration Program. People are often found to be in profound confusion between two similar yet non-identical sub-classes of visa which are visa 189 and 190. So what is the point of difference between these two?

The basic difference between the two is that the sub class 189 is an independent visa for which you need to be skilled in the profile which is in demand in the county of Australia. You need not get nominated by any state/ territory to be able to apply for this sub class. Whereas, under sub-class 190, you mandatorily required to be nominated by an Australian state or territory and also, you are required to subside in that particular state or territory from where you get your nomination from, for a precise time frame i.e., 2 years.

In both the cases, you need to be highly skilled, with a good amount of education and work experience so as to score maximum score. Calculate my immigration score by Australia Point Calculator.

The score requirement is, nevertheless, same in both sub classes i.e., 60 points out of 100 based on personal factors of an individual. If you comply with the aforementioned point requirement, you can then successfully submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Government of Australia.

The choice of sub class 189 and 190 depends on your skill assessment. It is decided there and then, after you skill assessment test, that which sub class of visa is suitable for you. Get immigration free assessment filling up Australia free assessment form.

Despite these differences, there are points of similarities in these sub classes. Let us look at the common requirements for both of these:
  • You need to be younger than age of 49
  • Must be proficient in English language
  • Must score at least 60 points
