Going by your question, you have applied for Australia PR and EOI dated 2nd October, 2017 so, your EOI is valid for one year and if you are unable to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) within the specific period of time, you will have to apply again.
Seeing the increase in competition, it is difficult to say whether you will receive ITA or not with 65 immigration points. As per the latest DIBP results, applicants are getting invitation with immigration score of 75 and above.
Therefore, it is suggested that instead of waiting for invitation by not doing anything, you can try to improve your immigration point score to increase your chances to receive ITA.
You may try to give language test again if you are not fulfilling the point criteria, getting 7 IELTS bands/65 PTE score will give you 10 additional points and 8IELTS Bands/79 PTE score will give you 20 additional points.
Additionally, you may try to get a nomination or sponsorship from the Australian state/territory or an eligible relative.
The Australia Skilled Nominated Visa 190 will give you 5 additional points to be added towards your overall immigration point score and Australia subclass 489 sponsorship or nomination will give you 20 additional points towards your overall immigration point score.
