The following changes to the policy will take effect this summer:

• Applicants who apply for an open work permit while waiting for their Canada permanent residence application to be approved will be eligible to get work permits valid through the end of 2024;

• Applicants will no longer be obliged to remain in Canada while their application is being reviewed.

• To support family reunification, immediate family members who are outside of Canada and who were included in a principal applicant's Canada permanent residence application will be eligible for their own open work permit. This will ensure that all Canadian permanent residence applications will be completed before applicants will need to apply to extend their temporary status once more.

International Graduates in Demand
