Express Entry is back for Canadian visas! Apply for permanent residency.

The Express Entry system has three categories: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

People can apply for Canadian permanent residence based on their education and work history through one of several immigration classes.

Express Entry in Canada is back, which is great news for those who have been waiting for Canadian permanent residency. It has also formally begun inviting skilled workers to apply for PR. Because of the massive backlog caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the suspension of these programs, many prospective immigrants have been waiting for more than two years to get or apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC), a popular pathway for international graduates and post-graduate candidates to apply for PR, has been closed since September 2021. Earlier this month, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited up to 1,500 candidates to apply for permanent residence, including those under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), for the first time since December 2020.

"Today, I am satisfied to declare that Express Entry draws have officially continued and that applications will be handled at our standard half-year handling time." "Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, told CIC News.

"I'd like to thank candidates from all over the world for their patience while we worked to reduce the backlog before resuming Express Entry draws." I eagerly await the arrival of skilled workers who will be critical in addressing Canada's labour shortages."

Immigrate to Canada through Express Entry

Here's a quick rundown of the Express Entry programs:

People can apply for Canadian permanent residence based on their education and work history through one of several immigration classes.

The Express Entry system has three categories: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Applicants must have three years of Canadian employment experience prior to applying. Most international students in Canada use this route to apply for permanent residency.

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): Applicants must have foreign working experience. Age, education, employment history, and other factors are all taken into account.

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): This program is for workers with skills in construction, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Check out the steps to obtaining permanent residency in Canada:

  • First, decide which immigration route is best for you.
  • Enter your information into the Express Entry pool so that they can rank you.

  • For PR applications, the minimum cut-off marks must be met. The most recent cut-off score is 557 points, but this fluctuates.
  • To be eligible for Express Entry in Canada, you must meet several minimum requirements, including skilled work experience and language proficiency.

Are you the perfect candidate for the Provincial Nominee Program?

A comparison of base and boosted PNP.

The PNP is a crucial route to obtaining permanent residency in Canada.

According to the Canadian Constitution, the federal and provincial governments share responsibility for immigration.

Prior to 1998, there were very few provincial immigration programs, and the majority of immigrants opted to reside in British Columbia's, Ontario's, and Quebec's urban centres. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was created by the federal and provincial governments in the hopes that it would encourage immigrants to settle in other provinces, thereby reversing this trend and spreading the advantages of immigration across Canada.

With over 80,000 new immigrants each year, the PNP has proven to be a huge success and will be Canada's top economic class pathway in 2022 and 2023.

What's the procedure for the Provincial Nominee Program?

While the final decision on any application for permanent residency rests with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), each province and territory is free to propose candidates they believe have the best potential of succeeding economically in their region.

Candidates who use a PNP can do so in one of two ways: either they can submit an upgraded nomination through the federal Express Entry system or apply directly to a province through a base stream.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

Provincial nomination criteria

It is possible to submit an application directly to a province for those who desire to obtain permanent residence in Canada. The base provincial nomination is what this is. In Canada, there are more than 80 PNP streams, therefore it is up to the applicant to determine which one best suits them and then follow the instructions on the website of the relevant provincial government. A province will analyze the application after receiving it and then determine whether to nominate a candidate.

If a candidate is chosen, the letter of nomination and application for permanent residency must be sent to IRCC. If you are already in the Express Entry pool but need more visas, you can also apply for a base PNP.

Superior nomination

The PNP's enhanced nomination process can expedite the process of obtaining Canadian permanent residence. An applicant may build an Express Entry profile on the website of the federal government if they are qualified for at least one of the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Provincial governments can assess the applicants after gaining access to the Express Entry pool and creating a profile. They can send a candidate a notification of interest encouraging them to submit an application for provincial nomination if they believe the candidate would be a suitable fit for the province.

After you receive a notification of interest

The nominee must then submit a new PNP application if they accept the provincial nomination.

The candidate will receive a letter of nomination, which they can submit to their Express Entry profile for an extra 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points if provincial eligibility standards are met. These extra criteria increase the likelihood that IRCC will issue an invitation to apply (ITA) to an Express Entry candidate.

Express Entry process:

Step 1: Determine your eligibility for the Express Entry PNP.

Step 2: Create an Express Entry profile

Step 3: You can accept a provincial notice of interest and submit your provincial nomination application if you do.

Step 4: You can add a province nomination to your Express Entry profile for 600 more CRS points if you get one.

Step 5: Submit your permanent residency application to IRCC as soon as you receive an Express Entry invitation from the agency.

Step 6: Pass a medical examination and obtain a police check.

Step 7: After receiving IRCC approval, you can finalize your immigration to Canada for permanent residency.

Cons and benefits

The PNP has numerous benefits, but an enhanced nomination is one of them. Your chances of receiving a permanent residence invitation through an Express Entry program will be greatly improved by a province nomination, and you'll also gain access to a six-month processing standard. This is faster than the basic PNP streams' current average processing time of 27 months.

Check PR Eligibility - PNP for Canada PR

But there are additional costs to take into account. In addition to the cost of biometrics, language testing, and evaluations of educational credentials, Express Entry fees with IRCC start at $1,365 CAD. If you are bringing a spouse or dependent along with you, there are also additional costs.

Costs for permanent residence are charged by the Canadian government as of April 30, 2022.

Additionally, depending on the program, many PNPs charge application fees that vary from $250 to $1,500. In essence, a PNP requires two application costs to be paid. Your PNP application will be processed by a province once, and then the IRCC will process your application for permanent residence. However, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon are the only four jurisdictions that don't require a price to submit a provincial nomination application.

Conclusion

The decision to seek or accept provincial nominations ultimately depends on the individual circumstances of each candidate. The best course of action is to conduct an in-depth study, consult with a professional, and choose what suits your needs in terms of scenario, budget, and time frame.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

You can apply for the Provincial Nominee Program through Express Entry if you qualify for one of the aforementioned programs. If you are nominated, you will receive bonus points and an invitation to apply right away.

How to go by the Canada Immigration Process?

Step 1: Determine your eligibility

There are two techniques to determine whether you qualify for an Express Entry program:

  • Technically evaluate your profile for all the possible factors and see if you are meeting the eligibility requirements before applying.
  • Check all the available programs and streams along with their requirements that suit your profile the best.

Step 2: Review your points

  • If you submit your profile and are qualified for at least one of the Express Entry programs, you will be ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System in the Express Entry pool (CRS).
  • They employ the CRS, a points-based system, to evaluate and rank your profile in the Express Entry pool by scoring it.
  • You must have a score greater than the required number of points for your round of invites in order to be invited.
  • To determine your score, utilize the CRS score calculator tool.

Step 3: Prepare your documents.

  • If you choose to create a profile, you'll need proof that you qualify for Express Entry, such as the results of your language exam.
  • You should prepare your paperwork ahead of time because some take a while to obtain.

Step 4: Fill out your profile

  • You can tell us more about yourself in your Express Entry profile.
  • If you're qualified, they will add you to your applicant pool and assign you a CRS score.

Step 5: Get a request and apply

  • The applicants who scored the highest in the pool receive invites to apply. You'll have 60 days to submit your application if they encourage you to do so.
  • The majority of comprehensive applications with all the supporting documentation will be processed in six months or less.

PEI PNP invites 136 applicants on 16th June in the new Draw.

On June 16th, 2022, a recent Expression of Interest draw was performed. The Prince Edward Island government in Canada invited 136 people from the EOI pool to apply for immigration to PEI. In the PEI PNP draw, invitations were given out for two types of immigration to Prince Edward Island: business and arts.

There were 9 invites issued in the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur immigration stream, with a minimum point barrier of 65 points. In the Labor& Express Entry category, 127 invitations were given out with no minimum point requirements.

PNP Express Entry Category in PEI

The PEI PNP's Express Entry Category is a superior PNP, meaning it is linked to the federal government's Express Entry system. To be considered for this stream, immigrants must have a profile in the framework.

CRS points are awarded to eligible candidates based on their age, work experience, educational qualifications, and English or French language proficiency.

Express Entry is a service that monitors immigration applications to Canada. It processes applications for economic class migration programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates who receive a provincial nomination gain 600 points on the CRS and are almost guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada in a later Express Entry draw.

To be considered for a provincial nomination in PEI, Express Entry applicants must first create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.

NOW IS THE TIME TO COMPUTE

EOI profiles are given scores based on the province's unique scoring grid. The top scorers are then invited to participate in monthly draws.

Competitors are given a CRS score based on their age, professional experience, educational qualifications, and ability to communicate in English or French.

Impact on the Workforce

The Labour Impact Category is open to non-native Canadians with a valid work visa in Prince Edward Island and employer assistance. There are three options: skilled worker, critical worker, and international graduate. It is critical to submit an Expression of Interest in the Labour Impact Category in order to be considered for nomination to the PEI Legislature.

Category for Business Impact

To proceed with their applications, candidates in the Business Impact Category must achieve the provincial minimum score. Each drawing has a unique score. For today's draw, the PEI PNP sent out invites under the Work Permit Stream, which is for international entrepreneurs who want to own and run a firm on the island.

The number of people waiting to enter Canada has increased to 2.4 million.

Over the last month, the backlog has increased by roughly 260,000 people.

The IRCC's backlog has reached 2.4 million people.

The backlog has increased by 257,499 people in the last month, owing largely to a surge in temporary residency applications.

Find out if you are eligible to immigrate to Canada.

As of June 1, 2022, there are 394,664 citizenship petitions on file.

As of June 6, the permanent residence inventory was at 522,047 people.

As of June 6, the temporary dwelling inventory had expanded to 1,471,173 people.

On May 31, CIC News submitted a request to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for this updated information. On June 15, it acquired the information.

Since last summer, the backlog has progressed as follows:

  • 2,387,884 people from June 1-6, 2022
  • 2,130,385 people from April 30 to May 2, 2022
  • 2,031,589 people on April 11-12, 2022
  • 1,844,424 people on March 15 and 17, 2022
  • 1,815,628 people on February 1, 2022
  • 1,813,144 people on December 15, 2021
  • 1,792,404 people on October 27, 2021
  • 1,447,474 people on July 6, 2021

The backlog for Express Entry continues to shrink.

Over the last month, the inventory of the three Express Entry programs has improved. It now has 31,603 people, down from 40,889 at the end of April.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) inventory is at 6,088 people, down from 7,522 on April 29.

The stock of the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is 25,081 individuals, contrasted with 32,883 individuals.

The number of people in the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) inventory has decreased to 434 from 484 in late April.

Due to the pandemic, IRCC put a hold on FSWP and FSTP candidate draws in December 2020 and did the same for CEC candidates in September 2021. It has prioritized completing Express Entry applications in recent months in order to resume invites to candidates for all three programs in early July. IRCC has promised that once these draws resume, it will return to its pre-pandemic service level of processing most Express Entry applications within six months.

The skilled worker and PNP inventories in Quebec are also improving.

The number of skilled workers in Quebec has decreased to 27,146 from 32,130 in late April. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) inventory has also decreased, from 72,194 to 68,221 people. The inventory of the Temporary Residence to Permanent Residence (TR2PR) Program, on the other hand, continues to rise, now at 49,447 people, up from 44,449 previously. Between May and November 2021, the IRCC ran the TR2PR Program, which allowed 90,000 people in Canada to apply for permanent residency.

The inventory of family classes has increased.

The total number of family class applications has increased to 112,837, up from 108,863 previously.

In comparison to late April, the Spouses, Partners, and Children Program have increased marginally. It now stands at 67,929 people, up from 67,102 previously.

The number of people enrolled in the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) has climbed to 41,802 from 38,478 previously. The IRCC has yet to reveal specifics about its plans for the PGP 2022. It recently announced that beginning July 4, revisions will allow some parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to seven years per admission under the Super Visa.

Over 200,000 people have been placed in temporary residence backlog

The temporary residency backlog now stands at 1,471,173 people, up 216,382 people since April 29. (back then it stood at 1,200,791 persons).

To some extent, the increase in temporary residence inventory at this time of year is usual. Temporary residency applications have a strong seasonal component, owing to the fact that certain segments of the population prefer to visit Canada in the spring and fall. Most international students, for example, submit their study visa applications at this time of year so that they can begin their studies in Canada by the end of August or early September. As another example, more people are likely to apply for temporary residence visas (TRVs) at this time of year as they plan to visit Canada during the warmer months between spring and autumn.

The Canada Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), which has been accessible to Ukrainians wishing to relocate to Canada since March, is the principal exception. Between March 17 and June 8, 296,163 CUAET applications were submitted, according to the IRCC website.

As a result, the total TRV inventory has increased to 771,482 people, up from 621,451 on April 29.

Meanwhile, there are 173,353 people waiting for study permits, up from 132,280 previously. The number of people with work permits has increased to 236,735 from 189,061 previously. The number of people on work permit extensions has also increased, from 144,842 to 171,998.

What the federal government of Canada is doing?

IRCC gave the public an update on its efforts to manage its inventory, meet more of its application processing requirements, and modernize the immigration system in late January. This will necessitate increased investment in technology as well as the hire of additional personnel.
