British Columbia conducts a tech and target draw on 19th July.

On a weekly basis, the province of British Columbia holds a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) round of invitations. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program held rounds of invitations on July 19 this week (BC PNP). In these draws, over 165 candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

A total of 139 candidates were invited via the tech draw and 28 via the targeted draw. These applicants must meet the requirements of one of British Columbia's Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories, which are managed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Candidates who received invitations in this draw came from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled subcategories and had to have a minimum provincial score of 60 to 85 depending on the stream.

Targeted draw outcomes

BC has recently held targeted draws for candidates who meet the minimum requirements for specific National Occupational Classifications (NOCs) that are in high demand in the province, such as healthcare and technology occupations.

The province has also been holding rounds of invitations for candidates in specific occupations for several weeks now in order to meet the increased labour needs in certain sectors of the economy. This week, the province invited the following:

1. 18 early childhood educators (NOC 4214) with a minimum score of 60;
2.  8 healthcare workers with a minimum score of 60;

What exactly is SIRS?

Candidates for skilled workers in BC must create a profile with the Skills Immigrations Registration System (SIRS). The SIRS evaluates and ranks candidates based on their human capital attributes.

SIRS works in the same way as the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, the highest scorers in BC's general draw are invited to apply for provincial nomination.

Concerning the BC PNP Tech programme

The BC PNP Tech was launched in May 2017 as a pilot project in response to a labour market study that revealed that access to talent was the most pressing issue confronting BC's technology sector. Because of the project's success, BC made it a permanent programme. When qualified workers are not available locally, it is intended to allow employers in British Columbia's technology sector to continue to attract and select international talent.

The BC PNP Tech, in particular, is a fast-track immigration pathway for in-demand tech workers and international students. Aspirants should be enrolled in one of BC's existing provincial immigration streams and have a valid job offer in one of 29 eligible occupations for at least one year to meet the criteria for the stream.

Job offers under the BC PNP Tech, unlike other BC PNP streams, must be for a minimum of one year, with at least 120 days remaining at the time of application to the BC PNP. It must also be full-time and from a province-approved employer.

Invitations are sent out each week to the highest scoring aspirant who meets the eligibility requirements through the province's tech programme.

Applicants who are invited to apply for a provincial nomination must submit an application. After that, most tech applications will be handled within two to three months.

If approved, candidates will receive a nomination confirmation from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program Class.

PNP candidates automatically receive 600 points for their Comprehensive Ranking System score, giving them a rather decent likelihood of obtaining an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence through the Express Entry system.

Targeted draw outcomes

Concerning BC PNP Tech

Following labour market research that revealed that the main challenge confronting BC's technology sector was access to talent, the BC PNP Tech was introduced in May 2017 as a pilot experiment. Candidates who are accepted will be given a nomination confirmation from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that they can use to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program Class.

PNP candidates have a very excellent probability of earning an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence through the Express Entry procedure since they immediately receive 600 points for their Comprehensive Ranking System score.

BC PNP conducts a new draw on June 14th for General and Targeted NOCs

Customized invitations have been sent out in addition to general draws since March to support BC government priorities such as aiding specific industrial sectors and increasing regional immigration.

In British Columbia, the PNP 

The BC PNP strives to attract foreign employees who want to make Canada their permanent home and are in high demand in the province.

Skills Immigration and Express Entry are the two main immigration streams in the BC PNP, both of which are separated into sub-categories. British Columbia's Skills Immigration Registration System is in charge of these streams (SIRS). Before you may apply, you must first create an account with the SIRS. Then you'll be given a score based on things including your education, employment experience, and language skills.

When British Columbia has one of its regular draws, the top-scoring candidates from each sub-category are asked to apply for a provincial nomination to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

The BC PNP online system will give you 30 days from the date of the invitation to complete and submit a comprehensive application.

After submitting a complete BC PNP application, you will be informed of the province's verdict within two to three months. If your nomination is accepted, you will be eligible to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Class with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

From the date of confirmation, the nomination is valid for about six months.

As a provincial nominee under the CRS, you can gain an extra 600 points, allowing you to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a later federal Express Entry draw.
