India is the topmost migrant source for Australia on a permanent basis. As per the recent statistics report, there were 33,310 migrants from India during the previous year ending June 2018. There was 20.5 percent decline in the Indian numbers coming to Australia but still, Indians were the largest constituency. The Indian migrants apply for Australia PR under skill stream, family stream, and special eligibility stream.
Australian Government recently announced the 15 percent reduction on immigration cap to 1.60 lakh for the year 2019-20. Though the immigration intake has been reduced Australia is very welcoming towards the right contender. The government has also sought to incentivize two new classes of regional visas from November 2019. The prime focus is now to shift skilled migrants under regional visas. Here, regional areas mean all of Australia except metropolitan cities of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Perth.
The migrants under non-IT-Sector are likely to benefit under regional visas migration because of various job options available to them in the regional areas whereas, migrants applying for IT sector occupations will focus on metropolitan areas.
