Australia is offering many incentives to migrants wishing to work and settle in regional areas to combat the labour shortage. Along with the other Australian States, South Australia has also joined this bandwagon of providing incentives to the potential migrants.
South Australia will be offering free schooling to dependents of the Subclass 457 (Temporary Work Skilled Visa) and Subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage Visa) visa attending public schools in regional areas. This exemption will be applicable to all the eligible students studying in regional areas.
Applicants earlier had to pay student contribution fee of around $5,300 for primary students and $6,400 for high school students when applying for Subclass 457 and 482.
John Gardner, Education Minister of SA, said that the Government is making every possible effort to attract immigrants for living and working in the regional areas. This move will support businesses in the area to meet skill shortages. The fee waiver is an incentive given to the foreign skilled workers to settle in regional SA and contribute towards the state economy.
South Australia is hopeful of positive response from the skilled workers that will ultimately help their local business to grow. It will generate more employment in regional areas, as per SBS News.
Any savings done by migrants is always positive and this move surely makes living in regional South Australia more attractive.
