Expected Changes to Victoria State Occupational Demand List 2019

The Australian State Victoria is planning major changes to its State Nominated Occupation List. The Department of Jobs, Precincts, and Regions in Victoria says that occupation list is continuously evaluated and reviewed regularly. The changes are planned to ensure that the occupation lists mentions those occupations that are currently required in Victoria labour market.
The Victoria last updated its occupation list in July 2018 and it is currently under review. The Department has released a draft asking for occupations revival from the concerned parties.
The draft lists currently consists of 80 occupations in which 13 more occupations have been added. However, only 31 occupations from the previous list are taken for this year occupational demand draft list.
Below mentioned are the occupations that are reportedly removed from the draft list:
  • Early Childhood Teacher
  • Secondary School Teacher
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Midwife
  • Air conditioning and Mechanical Services Plumber
  • Podiatrist
  • Dietician
  • Welder
  • Roof Plumber
  • Gasfitter
  • Sheetmetal Trades Worker
  • Metal Mechanics Air conditioning
  • Metal Fabricator
  • Telecommunications Lineworker
  • Electronic Equipment Trades Worker
  • Motor Mechanic
Whereas, some other occupations have been added in the draft list:
  • Sales and Marketing Manager
  • Finance Manager
  • Advertising Manager
  • Cafe or Restaurant Manager
  • Mechanical Engineer
  • Public Relations Professional
  • Accountant
  • Taxation Accountant
  • Company Secretary
  • Solicitor
  • Electronics Engineer
  • Cook
  • Chef
Please note that the above mentioned occupations are under review and it is not the final Victoria State Occupational Demand List. The department is still working on final list of the occupations.
It is expected that the final Occupational demand list of Victoria is expected to be released by mid 2019.
Victoria State Nomination program allows skilled and qualified workers to come and settle in the state on permanent basis provided your occupation is listed on relevant occupational demand list and you have state/territory nomination.
