Now, you may ask, who are STEM Graduates?

STEM Graduates refers to those members of the Australian population with a past secondary qualification at the level of certificate III or above in any of the following fields of education:

• Natural and Physical Sciences (NPS)
• Information Technology (IT)
• Engineering and Related Technologies (ERT)
• Agriculture, Environment and Related Studies (AERS)

The recent survey of Deloitte Access commissioned by the Office of the Chief Scientist says that out of 356 employers, 144 reported difficulty in filling the technician and trade worker roles, and 135 of 429 had difficulty recruiting STEM graduates. Also, out of 451 employers, 241 expected the need to increase STEM professionals in next five to ten years.

• 25 percent graduates are in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services
• 10 percent graduates in Manufacturing

• 6 percent graduates in Health Care and Social Assistance
• 5 percent graduates in Financial and Insurance Services
