Canadian speakers of south asian language see a significant increase due to immigration

According to a recent study by Statistics Canada, the number of Canadians who speak a South Asian language increased faster in 2021 than the country's overall population.

According to a recent Statistics Canada research, immigration to Canada has increased the proportion of Canadians who speak a language other than English and French at home.

From 2016 to 2021, there was a significant increase in the number of Canadians whose primary language at home was a South Asian tongue.

Immigration is largely to blame for this expansion. One in five of the people who immigrated to Canada as permanent residents between 2016 and 2020 were born in India, and one-quarter were born in a South Asian nation.

Between 2016 and 2021, the number of Canadians who spoke a South Asian language at home increased far faster than the country's overall population growth of 5.2%.

Particularly, the number of Malayalam speakers increased by 129% to 35,000, Hindi by 66% to 92,000, Punjabi by 49% to 520,000, and Gujarati by 43% to 92,000.

In actuality, South Asian language speakers increased at a rate that was at least eight times faster than that of the overall Canadian population.

Methods for entering Canada

Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program are two well-liked immigration routes for South Asian nationals seeking to move to Canada.

Express Entry

Express Entry is a mechanism used by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada to handle applications (IRCC).

It is the main method by which the Canadian government accepts immigrants of all economic backgrounds.

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class are the three separate programs that Express Entry oversees (CEC).

Also read: Express Entry keeps expanding its application pool while lowering its CRS

Each of the three programs has minimal requirements for eligibility that an applicant must fulfil in order to be eligible to apply.

Prior to applying, an applicant must declare their requirement in settling in Canada permanently.

The Comprehensive Ranking System will then assign them a grade.

Candidates for skilled workers are categorized using the CRS to identify those who will succeed in the Canadian labour market.

It evaluates each applicant and gives a score based on their human capital, taking into account factors like age, education, language proficiency, and work experience, among others.

The Canadian government performs Express Entry draw regularly every two weeks, inviting those with the best CRS scores to apply to become permanent citizens.

Calculate Your Express Entry CRS Score Here

Program for Provincial Nominees

Another popular route for talented professionals to immigrate to Canada is through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

A PNP exists in almost all of Canada's provinces and territories.

It enables each province and territory to put out people who are eager to relocate to a certain province.

Also read: 353 candidates invited to the Manitoba PNP

The PNP's goal is to increase immigration's positive effects across Canada.

To enhance its economic and demographic needs and to welcome qualified workers, each province and territory has established its own immigration channels.

A candidate may enter one of the PNPs through the Express Entry federal pool.

It is referred to as an "improved nomination" if you are nominated by a province under this stream.

The advantage of this kind of nomination is that you will gain an extra 600 CRS points, which almost ensures that you will be invited to submit an application for permanent residence in a future Express Entry draw.

In 2015, Canada launched the Visa Waiver Program, which allows applicants to apply for a Canada eTA/Canada Visa Online.

From August 2015 forward, Canada and the United States signed a cooperation agreement to protect the border and began a Visa Waiver program. Through the Visa Waiver Program, Canada created an electronic travel authorization (eTA) document. Citizens of visa-exempt nations can utilize it to visit Canada.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

The Canada eTA, commonly known as the Canada Visa Online, is a Canada tourist visa that allows foreign residents to visit Canada. It can be gotten by following a few simple steps on the internet. The Canada eTA is valid for five years from the date of issue and can only be used for business, tourism, or transit. The best way to obtain a Canada eTA is to apply for it online, as the entire process takes approximately 5 minutes or less. Because there is no need to travel to the Canadian Embassy, an individual can save time by applying for a Canada visa online from the comfort of their own home. Only Visa Exempt countries can apply for a Canada Visa online; persons from other countries must apply for a visa at a Canadian embassy.

An individual can stay in Canada for six months on a Canada tourist visa. It permits a person to spend their vacation in any Canadian city, sightsee, visit family or friends, and take a short course. The applicant's stay in Canada must be decided by an immigration officer at a Canadian port of entry. The passport will contain information about the number of days to be spent in the country.

Online Visa Application for Canada

Applying for a Canada PR Visa Online is a simple process that requires the applicant to fill out all of the required information. To make the payment, the applicant must provide a valid passport, email ID, and a credit/debit card. Everyone (people of all ages) will be required to complete the Canada Visa application form. The applicant will receive the Visa by email after submitting the required information. The verification process will take between 24 and 72 hours, thus it is best to apply for the visa as soon as possible. Canada needs more immigrants as there are 1 million vacancies.

According to reports, Canada is now facing a labour shortage and needs to fill more than a million positions.

In the 2010s, immigration accounted for more than four-fifths of the growth in the labour force, according to a Statistics Canada report released on June 22. For a long time, settlers have been the country's fundamental wellspring of work.

"The primary source of Canada's labour supply has forever been immigration. Elevated degrees of migration will be considerably more essential to the labour market in late 2021 because of the maturing working-age populace and occupation openings that will be 80% more than they were before the COVID-19 scourge, as per the paper.

                                        GET FREE CANADA ASSESSMENT FORM

Although a "modest, persistent increase in immigration levels will not fully offset the longer-term repercussions of an ageing population," the research did indicate that this measure would be crucial for decreasing the long-term effects of population ageing on the labour market.

The study states that in 2021, 405,800 immigrants were admitted, which was the greatest number ever. This followed a pause brought on by the epidemic in 2020.

The development also occurs not long after it was claimed that Canada's number of open positions reached a record high.

As businesses start to recover from the COVID pandemic, there were more than one million open positions that might be filled as of March 2022.

The report states that at the start of March 2022, "Canadian employers were actively seeking to fill more than one million (1,012,900) unfilled positions across all sectors, a record level."

"Vacancies grew by 22.6 per cent (+186,400) in the month and were up 60.5 per cent (+382,000) from March 2021 (not adjusted for seasonality)."

LABOR MARKET IMPROVEMENT, PARTLY DUE TO IMMIGRANTS

According to the June 22 report, the development of provincial programmes that depended increasingly on temporary foreign workers (TFW) and the introduction of the Canadian experience class were the main causes of the rise in economic primary candidates who entered the country.

It stated that "a rising share of the hired labour force" were temporary foreign employees.

Canada Occupation in Demand list in 2022

The research states that "the growing dependence on TFWs tended to improve the economic prospects of immigrants."

"In the years before the epidemic, recent immigrants' labour market outcomes significantly improved.

"TFWs and international students, who are both relocating abroad in greater numbers, have grown to be significant sources of labour supply.

"While recent immigrants' economic fortunes have improved, significant problems with utilising their skills have persisted. In order to increase social and economic mobility for newcomers while strengthening the skills and competitiveness of our workforce, these issues must be resolved.

Canada said in February that it wanted to accept 431,645 new permanent residents in 2022 as part of its Immigration Levels Plan 2022–2024.

In order to solve the labour deficit, the nation will also start accepting express entrance applications for permanent residence in July.

A new immigration programme for Canadians is in the pipeline.

Canada is developing a new temporary resident immigration scheme, and modifications to Express Entry are on the way.

For temporary foreign workers and international students, Canada is developing a new fast-track immigration scheme.

According to CBC News, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said the new program will provide a permanent option for temporary residents. It will be similar to, but not identical to, the TR2PR program, which welcomed 90,000 vital workers and international student grads last year.

                                    GET FREE CANADA ASSESSMENT FORM

"This moment, we're attempting to sort out the best way to deal with making a permanent residence pathway for temporary residence," Fraser told CBC News.

Fraser was given the task of "expanding routes to Permanent Residence for international students and temporary foreign employees" shortly after being appointed immigration minister. According to a vote passed in the Canadian House of Commons, Fraser now has 120 days to draft and publicize a strategy to attain these objectives.

"That puts me under a tight deadline to come up with a structure to develop this new permanent residency pathway, not just for international students, but also for temporary foreign workers," Fraser explained.

When Fraser's 120 deadlines expire on September 8, further information about the new program will be accessible.

Changes to Express Entry

This July, Canada will allow candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) to apply for permanent residency once again, but that won't be the only change.

Bill C-19 is currently making its way through the Senate and is expected to become law soon. It will allow Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to accept Express Entry candidates into the pool based on an economic purpose, such as occupation, French language proficiency, or educational credential.

To help them choose which groups of Express Entry candidates will be invited in these sorts of drawings, IRCC will be compelled to engage in a public consultation process. Furthermore, IRCC is required to submit an annual report to Parliament detailing the economic purpose pursued in each case.

Working in Canada normally necessitates the acquisition of a work visa. Work permits are separated into two categories: Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) work permits and International Mobility Program (IMP) work permits. TFWP work permits require companies to perform a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), whereas IMP work permits are designed to serve Canada's economic, social, and cultural interests. Because the work performed by these work permit holders has been proved to be of great benefit to Canada or is the result of a reciprocal arrangement with another nation, IMP work permits are exempt from the LMIA.

How to Immigrate to the United States Using Express Entry

The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program all use Express Entry as a management system for their applications. In other words, you must be eligible for at least one of these programs in order to be considered for Express Entry.

Once you've been accepted into the pool, you'll be assigned a score using the IRCC's Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS considers your job experience in a skilled occupation, your academic background, your ability to communicate in an official language, your age, and other economic considerations. The more CRS points you have, the almost certain you are to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency in Canada.

Candidates in the pool of Express Entry candidates may be invited to submit for a provincial nomination under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). You will be granted 600 CRS points if you respond to the invitation and are nominated. This bonus effectively ensures that you will earn an ITA in the next Express Entry round.

The ITA is required to apply for Express Entry immigration to Canada. The normal response time for IRCC is six months after they receive your response to the ITA. However, the pandemic has slowed actual processing times.

In 2022, Canada will increase the number of new citizens.

In order to deal with a backlog of applications and escalating processing delays, Canada drastically increased the number of new citizens at the start of 2022.

More than 95,000 persons became citizens in the first quarter of this year, compared to 136,604 in the entire year of 2021, according to official estimates. At the present rate, more than 380,000 persons might become citizens of Canada by 2022.

The number of citizenship ceremonies held by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has grown.

"I'm satisfied to be a Canadian, and it is generally a brilliant distinction to participate in welcome new individuals to our Canadian family," said Immigration Minister Sean Fraser during Citizenship Week toward the end of last month.

"This week has given a chance to zero in on generally that being Canadian involves the opportunity for individuals to act naturally, the connections to our brilliant scenes, and the chance for everybody, paying little heed to a foundation, to achieve their most prominent potential." Every day, I am thankful to be a Canadian, and I urge everybody to consider how citizenship affects them."

Early last month, the backlog of citizenship applications was at 399,325 applications.

The IRCC had 399,325 citizenship petitions in its inventory early last month, out of a backlog of 2.1 million applications for permanent and temporary residence and citizenship.

By upgrading and expanding its services for persons who wish to become Canadians, Canada plans to host even more citizenship ceremonies this year and welcome even more new Canadians.

In a statement, the IRCC said, "On November 26, 2020, we unveiled a new platform that made Canada one of the first countries in the world to provide citizenship testing online." "In April 2020, IRCC reacted fast to COVID-19 constraints by conducting virtual ceremonies." We are now able to invite more individuals to examinations and ceremonies as a result of these procedures than we were able to do before the outbreak."

As of April 29, the IRCC had 530,269 persons waiting for their permanent residency applications to be accepted in its backlog, and 1,200,791 people waiting for temporary residence applications.

The total number of applications for citizenship was 2,130,385 in total.

85 percent of Canada Immigrants become Canada Citizens.

The naturalization ceremony is the final stage in the process of becoming a citizen of Canada. During the ceremony, participants take the Oath of Citizenship, which is delivered by a citizenship judge, and embrace the privileges and duties of citizenship.

In Canada, around 85% of newcomers become citizens, making it one of the world's countries with the greatest naturalization rates.

Although similar ceremonies have been performed in Canada since 1947, the Oath of Citizenship was only modified in June of last year to acknowledge Indigenous peoples' inherent and treaty rights.

During the epidemic, Canada began accepting online applications from select customers seeking to apply for citizenship, get evidence of citizenship, or check for citizenship records. The Citizenship Application Tracker was established in May 2021 to keep clients informed about the status of their citizenship applications and any needed next actions.

Since the debut of IRCC's new online testing platform in November 2020 through April 30, 2022, about 310,000 people have been able to take the citizenship exam, allowing Canada to welcome more people quicker.

Almost 14,000 ceremonies were held on the virtual platform in the two years that concluded on April 30 this year. Approximately 3,000 candidates are invited to citizenship ceremonies each week by the IRCC.
